What is a 1 Step Paint Correction?
A 1 step paint correction is polishing with a lightly aggressive compound to remove swirl marks, holograms, light scratches and oxidation.
Why is a 1 Step Paint Correction better than a multiple step correction?
It’s not necessarily better, but we understand that not everybody has $500-1000 to spend to detail their vehicle. Most newer vehicles tend to have very light scratches and swirl marks from such things as normal use, sitting or placing things on the painted surfaces and being washed/dried improperly. A 1 Step Paint Correction will return most vehicles to 90-95% of their original condition at a fraction of the price of a multi-step correction.
Why should I do a 1 Step Paint Correction?
You may have a newer vehicle that has suffered some kind of minor damage, such as light etching of the paint from bird droppings, swirl marks and scratches due to drying your vehicle with “beach towels” or some other type of material that is not designed for use on your vehicle’s paint or light oxidation caused by parking the vehicle in the hot sun all day.
Many of our customers opt for this service for another reason: resale value. Before selling a vehicle, many people go for a “detail” to try and get top dollar. Nothing improves your vehicle’s resale value than paint that looks close to “factory.” It gives the impression to potential buyers that the vehicle was well cared for.
What's the process?
We start by hand washing your vehicle with soap specifically designed to remove all sealants, waxes, glazes and iron deposits, leaving your paint ready for correction. The next step is claying the paint to remove any large surface contaminants and rinsing the vehicle with spot free water. We then machine polish the paint to remove the majority of the light imperfections and oxidation. The product that we use is a one step paint correction product that compounds out the imperfections, polishes to a mirror like finish and leaves a coat of protective silicon oxide (SiO2). We would recommend putting a coat of SiO2 wax on top of this but it is not necessary. The vehicle will then be finished per the wash package that was selected unless no additional detailing is to be performed.
That sounds good. How much?
While not inexpensive, our 1 Step Paint Correction is not nearly as much as a multi-step correction. Our Ultimate One Step Detail starts at $239.95 for a small/mid-size sedan (larger vehicle are priced accordingly).
I found somebody on Craigslist/Yelp/Facebook that will do it for $100?
Yeah, I guess there’s a chance you won’t get one of these job by shopping for the job with price as your only deciding factor.
